Q: OK, I want to know more about your fitness services, but first I have to ask, what is the deal with the armadillo?
A: I thought you'd never ask!
Kidding, kidding. I get asked this often...
Even though I (it's Catherine answering you, by the way) started my business while living in Houston, Texas, I'm originally from Connecticut and was pretty pumped to see my first armadillo when I got there. Pumped enough to name my business after it? Yes, that pumped! The closest thing we have to armadillos in Connecticut are skunks and they are one nocturnal animal you DO NOT want to stumble upon.
I actually have a few reasons for connecting the armadillo to my business.
The first is purely selfish - I just think they're cool and I wanted something fun and unique for an industry where so many of the "good" names are already taken! However, I also like the armadillo because it's a mammal (not many people know that!) and unique and Fit Armadillo clients are all one of a kind as well.
Before I moved to Texas, people told me that I'd see a lot of armadillos that didn't quite make it across the street. However, a FIT Armadillo would be able to successfully jump over whatever life throws its way (the response of an armadillo to being startled is to jump up. It can only make it about 3 feet...not high enough to avoid a car). One day I hope to expand my services and help armadillos increase their vertical leap. In the meantime, I'm helping humans as cool and unique as my logo reach their fitness goals. Whether they're just trying to safely cross the first road on their fitness journey or want to cross several (by training for their first marathon, perhaps?!).

Did I mention that I used to be a Biology teacher? That may also have something to do with the fact that I named my fitness business after a cool critter!

Q: Can you explain HOW this works?
A: I'd be happy to!
Fit Armadillo specializes in private fitness sessions completed over live video chat. Our sessions are just like what you'd enjoy at a gym (you + your personal trainer OR private Pilates or yoga instructor), without the grunting men or traffic.
The simplest way to think of it is YOU + Your Computer (or other wi-fi enabled device with a video camera)+ Your Certified Fitness Professional.
Sessions are NOT pre-recorded, but done in real time!
Your trainer will demo a fitness move you need to complete, have you complete the move, give you feedback as you go and cheer you on throughout the session.
Unlike an online streaming video website, your trainer can tell you if you're not completing the move correctly and your workout will be tailored to your needs!

Q: When and how should I pay for sessions?
A: You'll pay for your session at the time of booking through your personal account.
This is done to reserve your session.
You should NEVER pay your trainer directly for sessions. If you do and something happens, we will not be able to refund your money. Make sure to book and schedule sessions through your private account to prevent any issues.

Q: What is the difference between REGULAR and ON DEMAND sessions?
A: REGULAR sessions are best if you can schedule your sessions with at least 48 hrs (2 days) notice.
Reasons to schedule regular sessions:
a. To save money - regular sessions are $10 less than on demand sessions!
b. To work with the same trainer for each session - on demand sessions often need to be booked with the first available trainer. Regular sessions are usually booked with the same trainer (someone with a schedule like yours).
c. To make fitness a part of your routine. Booking regular sessions each week is a great way to create a routine so you're more likely to stay on track!
ON DEMAND sessions cost more, but give you the flexibility to book with 30 mins notice.
Reasons to schedule on demand sessions:
a. To save money - If you know you'd need to cancel regular sessions often, booking on demand lets you avoid any cancellation fees. Only book when you KNOW you can train and pay for the session then!
b. If you like working with a variety of trainers - While you CAN work with any trainer as a regular client, booking on demand sessions means you will likely have a different trainer each day!
c. To beat any excuses - If children, travel, and/or other factors outside of your control have kept your from fitting in fitness in the past you'll LOVE this option! Put the baby down for a nap, enjoy a session when a meeting is cancelled, or whenever the mood suits you!
Q: Are there any initiation fees, application fees, membership fees, or contracts?
A: Nope! This isn't a gym 🙂
Fitness at your place and your pace means you don't need a gym or any of the fees that go along with it to enjoy the many benefits of moving more.
Use your credit card to reserve a session and only pay for the sessions you complete!*
The only "contract" we have are the terms you agree to when you sign up to ensure your safety and that our trainers are set up for success.
Sessions purchased with a package have an expiration date of 1 yr from the date of purchase, but that's because we want you to USE them (and you are free to book one session at a time!).
*Unless you cancel with less than 24 hrs notice - our cancellation policy is 24 hrs. To avoid this charge book an on demand session with just 30 mins advance notice so you KNOW you can make your session.
Q: When are ON DEMAND sessions available?
A: ON DEMAND sessions are available when there is a trainer free!

Q: Do you offer nutrition plans or sell supplements?
A: YES I do offer some pretty awesome nutrition plans!

You can add nutrition planning to your sessions. Just request more info when you book a session. You can also purchase nutrition planning as a non-client HERE, however, clients get a BIG discount even if they only train for ONE session (to get healthy you need to treat your body to the best from the inside out and we like to reward you for knowing this!).
A: NO! I do NOT sell and am NOT interested in selling any supplements or products.
If you email me to tell me about some "great opportunity" to make more money, I PROMISE I will NOT reply to your email. EVEN IF your products are "backed by a doctor and loved by athletes." I don't even care if I can make thousands or millions of dollars. I only offer what works for the long term - fitness that fits my clients' schedules and real food healthy eating solutions and these products DON'T do either.
If you are looking for fitness professionals who sell supplements and diet products you are NOT in the right place.
Some advice:
You do NOT need any additional products or fancy foods to get results.
Any trainer who tries to push supplements or other products on you is acting outside of their scope of practice and just trying to make money off of you. Save your money and put it towards an awesome vacation to reward yourself for being smart and reaching your goals the healthy way 🙂
Q: My employer offers a wellness reimbursement. Can I get my fitness sessions for FREE?!
A: Probably!
I've helped clients interested in taking advantage of their wellness reimbursement benefit at companies like Shell and Dartmouth and would be happy to help you do the same.
First, ask your employer what they need to approve fitness and/or nutrition services for reimbursement.
Usually an invoice from your sessions and a copy of your trainer's certification is enough and I'm happy to provide you with both!
Q: What if I want to work with you, Catherine!
A: First, I'm SO honored to hear that you want to work with me!
But,....
In order to serve my current clients the best I can, I have to limit the number of clients I work with at a given time and right now I am BOOKED!
However, I believe in teaching my clients how to "fly" (or even better, run!) on their own and I am happy to let you know when a new spot opens up. It would be my honor to work with you on your goals!
