A Fun Healthy Snack for Kids

Happy Labor Day!
Today I have a quick post about a healthy snack for kids that you can enjoy today or any day!
I came up with the *genius* idea this weekend….
It was hot and humid and I did NOT feel like running (yes-this happens to personal trainers, too!). Especially because I had been cleaning and had just found a delicious box of cinnamon sugar cookie mix with a cute pumpkin shaped cookie cutter attached.
But, I knew I’d feel better once I got out there to pound the pavement and sure enough – I did!
And that’s when I came up with this GENIUS healthy snack idea…to use that cookie cutter on a watermelon to create fun shapes!
Because when you run in Houston, TX in the summer the only thing you really want at the end of it is water and lots of it no matter what the form!
I tested the idea out and it worked:
While looking up other ideas for watermelon snacks and fun facts to share with you, I found out something a little sad… I was not the first person with this awesome idea.
Other people have been using cookie cutters to make watermelon stars, hearts, and even fruit kabobs for a while. But….I’m sure not many have made bunny and pumpkin shaped watermelons 🙂
In my search I also discovered some other pretty cool ideas for showcasing watermelon at your next party. Mr. Fit Armadillo wouldn’t be too happy if I tried these unattended, but they look SUPER fun.

Now that you’ve read this post, I’d love to hear what you think!
