Week One Spring Sizzle Challenge Recap
Day 1: Change your self talk!
Too often we focus on the negative vs. the positive. What we aren't doing vs. what we are accomplishing. As you go through your day focus on the POSITIVE and changing your negative thoughts around. It might be hard at first, but trust us, it gets easier!
Day 2: Positive Mind, Vibes, and Life
Your mindset is super important when it comes to sticking to your goal to get healthy. That's why we focused on it for day one and day two.
Today's challenge: List 10 things you love about yourself.
Day 3: Color your Salad
Taste the rainbow in a healthy way!
Brighten up your salad by topping it with fruits and veggies. Debra, ACE-Certified Personal Trainer and challenge leader, shared a great summary graphic that gives you some reasons for choosing different healthy foods. Check it out HERE.
Day 4: Fabulous Fruits
Aim for four servings of fruits a day.
Focus on whole fruits vs. the juices or green smoothies.
Is this news to you? Head HERE for a video where I break down the 411 on why green juice and weight loss actually DON'T go hand in hand. Or HERE for an article I was quoted in as an expert on the topic and joined by OTHER healthy lifestyle ladies as well 😉
Day 5: Chewin' the Fat
It IS ok to eat fat!
Eating fats won't make you fat, either (as long as you practice moderation). You actually need healthy fats to support the growth of cells in your body, protect your organs, and more!
Debra shared some great basic tips on the difference between fats HERE.
Day 6: Skill Power!
Instead of giving up your favorite foods, learn how to tweak them to make them healthier.
Some quick ideas for getting healthy in the kitchen:
-Bake, broil, or grill instead of frying
-Enjoy brown vs. white rice
-Greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream (one of my faves)
-Mustard vs. mayo
THIS free tool will help you find additional ideas as it lets you compare ingredients.
Day 7: Game Day
Set aside one day a week as your grocery store game day. Not only will this help you make healthier choices, but it can also help you save money if you use the items you currently have at home to plan future meals.
