Throwback Thursday: Classroom Rules
As you may or may not know by now, I used to to a classroom teacher. Even though I’ve since left that gig for my real passion, fitness, there are parts of it that I miss. One thing that sticks out? The excitement of the first days of school. It’s like being a kid all over again. Sure, the first day of school for teachers can be stressful (oh hey, remember that curriculum you thought you’d be teaching this year? yea…we changed it entirely….SURPRISE!), but it’s almost like a second New Years’ celebration. At least in the sense that you get a fresh start.
No matter how many years you’ve been teaching, one thing that you’ll likely be doing in the first days back is talking about classroom rules. If you need a little help with those, this post is for you 🙂
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I’ve set up a whole Back to School blog bonus series as I gear up for my 8 Week Online Group Fitness Program, the Teachers’ Tone up (UPDATE: This challenge is over, but we’re hosting a new one on 9/12. Learn more HERE). Well, this morning while digging through some old thumb drives looking for an old lesson plan I want to share with you later this month, I uncovered an old powerpoint on classroom rules. I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. It’s pretty goofy, but fun! I used some humorous (to me, some kids had no clue!) cartoons to help us review our classroom rules.
Here are some of my faves:
For more fun cartoons check out my old powerpoint and my 3 truths and a lie sample for that year by clicking HERE (as a bonus, the last slide has a bunch of random cartoon slides thrown in-most are science based!).
Then, let me know: which cartoon is your favorite? Would you use a PowerPoint like this? Do you have a plan for reviewing classroom rules? Any memories of classroom rule explanations that went awry? Share your thoughts with a comment below:
