Jamaican Jerk Kebabs – Fit Armadillo

Jamaican Jerk Kebabs

Jamaican Jerk Kebabs

Sometimes you just need a little spice in your life, am I right?

Usually in the Fit Armadillo household, Indian food brings the spiciness. This week, we decided to change things up a little bit and add some heat in the form of a Jamaican jerk recipe.

Mr. Fit Armadillo found this recipe for Jamaican BBQ marinade, but instead of using chicken breasts, he opted for ground chicken and turkey to make kebabs. The result was super yummy!

Want to add some spice to your dinner tonight?

Here’s what you’ll need to cook up your own Jamaican Jerk Kebabs:

0.5 lb ground chicken
0.5 lb ground turkey
6 green onions, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
3/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

Here’s how to put it all together:

Step One: Make your marinade. Gather all ingredients other than your ground meats and mix them in a blender for 15 seconds.
Step Two: Prepare your meat. Mix your chicken and turkey meat together and then add in your marinade mix.
Step Three: Cook your kebabs.  Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Form your marinaded meat into kebabs of about 1/2 an inch wide and 3 inches long (or to your preference).  Then spray a glass baking dish with cooking spray and place the meat on top. Bake for 20 mins.
Mr. Fit Armadillo and I love salad so we used our kebabs to top off a mix of kale and other yummy veggies, however, you could enjoy them as an entree and have some veggies as your side. Either way I think you’ll love them, if you like a little spice.
