What Is Sports Psychology?
What Is Sports Psychology? Sports Psychologist Emily Saul Explains
What does a sports psychologist do? Today's guest, sports psychologist Emily Saul, helps answer this question. Our conversation begins with Emily's insights on mental toughness, the topic I heard her speak about as part of a panel at the Boston Marathon earlier this year. Listen in to learn about the importance of self talk and how to build your own confidence as you work on your athletic goals. Next, Emily pulls back the curtain and shares what it's like to work with a sports psychology coach one-on-one. You'll learn how sports psychology, a form of positive psychology, differs from traditional psychology. Emily started her sports psychology practice because she discovered, firsthand, what kind of transformative, life-changing, self-changing force physical movement can be and her passion really shines through when she speaks! Beyond her work as a sports psychology coach, Emily has been a big part of the November Project which she shares more about in part II of our conversation as well as how to regain your motivation if you're stuck in a fitness rut.
